SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTGS) — The Rape Crisis Center in Savannah has been a safe haven for victims of sexual assault and abuse for over three decades. On Wednesday, the organization finally put its name on the map under a new name: Mary’s House” in honor of its founder, Mary McAlister. McAlister said she has seen the organization grow and it’s an honor to have her name attached to the work that they do.
“From an all-volunteer crisis line to a fully-comprehensive agency serving victims and helping to prevent assaults through the years,” she said. “It’s just been an amazing process.”
